redline shockproof lube
Good afternoon, I would like to ask if anyone has used this gear oil? I would like to change my rear diff oil and wanted to use this gear oil. Any problems with using this stuff? Thanks in advance.

Erick:
We exchanged some emails privately about this. For the benefit of the rest of the mebers, let me post a reply that I got from Redline. The original question was what is the best gear oil to use to quiet differential noise. << The ShockProof Heavy would likely reduce the noise, but in a street application I wouldn't recommend it. The ShockProof lubes are primarily recommended for race type applications, at lower temperatures encountered on the street, the cold flow/characteristics are better with some of our other lubes. For the best noise attenuation with our gear lubes, I would recommend the 80W140. If very low temperatures are encountered, the 75W140 would be better suited. I wouldn't expect either to be to thick, too high viscosity but there are some trade offs for the added viscosity. The fluid will operate warmer, have a little more drag, using more power and not flow or lubricate as well at low temperatures. Thank you for your interest in Red Line Oil. Dave Granquist >> |
