This Months Project
My 1998 W210 E300 started losing power last month. Finally took it out for a torture run. Ended up blowing off the exhaust clip between the turbo extension and the trap oxidizer.
The Trap was clogged.So I removed the trap and cleaned it. Ran like the wind again, BUT smoked a ton. Seemed to have blown the turbo, valve seals and what else was in the way. So far: Turbo rebuilt as it had excess shaft movement. Glow plugs replaced as 1 had quit. Thermostat replaced just in case. This was easy with the turbo out. Next on the list: Change oil again. Just did it 1000 miles ago just in case. Install turbo today. My wife just reminded me that the volume control on the radio doesn't work. Any other suggestions? Am I having fun Yet? Larry |

Keeps you out of trouble at least.
Whats inside the catalyst and whats involved in cleaning it?
