Fuel tank leak on 1987 300D

Figured out where the diesel smell was coming from in the trunk! Could anyone tell me the part number for the seal or a link to buy one...Didn't seem to find one on ***************

Look for a fuel sender gasket.

Looked at several online stores but did not see a separate gasket for the fuel sender, called the dealer and was told it comes with the fuel sender.
So I am guessing I should just get the fuel sender since it's no accurate anyway. BTW did anyone have this issue before? I am assuming it started to leak because the previous owner was using bio diesel. He had the IP resealed too because of bio diesel ate through the seals...

Seems to me that I was able to buy biodiesel-resistant o-rings for the fuel sender from Fryerpower here.

While you've got that sender out...

You might want to look inside ...I bet you find why it's not accurate.

If you're not running bio, find any gasket or oring that fits. Try home depot, Lowes plumbing section. If you need a Viton o-ring, try a local hydraulic shop if you don't want to mail order.

I'll bet if you take a sheet of 4 mi polyethelene and cut a gasket with scissors, it will seal fine and be bio compatible to boot. May change sender calibration a tiny amount due to being thinner than the o-ring.

edit: thicker polyethelene can be srounged from 5 gal buckets.

I am not running bio diesel now, never did. The old owner ran it for 2 years, I frankly don't see the point it's almost $2 more per gallon...
You guys gave me a good idea about the aftermarket one, home depot may have one. I will open the sender and fix it per instructions someone posted here a while back. I will also have to pay someone to steam clean my trunk since it smells like old bio diesel!
Now it got me thinking what else is leaking due to bio diesel!
