Getting off wood interior

how do i remove the wood pannel in my 1987 300SDL w126? i would like to take off the piece that the climate controls are enclosed in that is right above the radio... its one big piece has the climate controls the hazard light switch etc in it...

I would like to know this too. Is it like the W123 where you just pull on it and it snaps out?

It's been a while but definitely the radio has to come off because it's covering 2 screws that go up into that panel. IIRC after those screws are out you pull the lower edge towards you and the panel will come off.

so slide out the radio and look for two screws holding it in... then where from there? i dont wanna break the bad boy
