a really really nice '87 300td....a few questions....
i was out today and parked next to a champagne w/ burgundy tex '87 300td with no blemishes or rust.
the car was really really nice w/ only 92k on the clock. it was obviously well cared for and parked in a garage. i left a note on the car about if they wanted to sell with my number..... they called and asked me and asked what i'd offer...... so what are they cars worth now.......can someone please give me some ideas. thanks for reading

Hmm, well. If they aren't really wanting to sell it, they probably want some ridiculous offer. I've heard of people thinking these wagons are worth 8 grand (not on here, though )
Since the wagons are rarer, they would demand more than a sedan..and if it were a sedan in the shape you say it is...it might be worth $5500? So around that / maybe a little more. Any idea on the suspension? After all these years, I'm sure you know, anything rubber is probably shot. I am learning this the hard way!

It's a tough market right now for diesels. But, with less than 100K on the clock..........every idiot on e-bay will have their tongue falling out.
So, it will surely sell for something north of $5K............could go all the way to $10K if it shows very well in the photos. Unless there is a set of documented records, the mileage claim must be considered ridiculous for a 22 year old vehicle. |

the real question is how much can you spend?
and remember- you can always offer more, but it is hard to offer less.

IMHO it is probably worth $5500 to $8,000 if it is truely under 100,000 miles and isnt rusty.

Being an Ohio car, I wouldn't get too crazy about pricing. There is a real market for those, and an inflated NorthEast coast price, but the really inflated ones need to have a salt-free pedigree.
That being said, champagne is a nice exterior color, the burgundy an unusual combination/interior color. If it's leather with the 3rd seat, it's a rare find. Every dealer had an '87 300TD for a service/courtesy vehicle. They were all white with blue interior, mostly 'tex interiors, not hard to find. Champagne with burgundy though, an interesting find. Offer $3500 and see where it goes. Act surprised if they tell you they want significantly more, don't make enemies, in this economy people need money fast sometimes and if they keep your number, ...
