$60 Diesel Fuel filter 10micron with glass bowl assembly

I saw this on Ebay with Free Shipping. I have read some are interested in a primary filter water separator.
Ask the Seller if this unit has a drain on the bottom and how much the raplacement filter elements cost
10 microns is the same as the Mercedes Spin-on fuel filter.

I installed this on my 300D and 300SDL and am very happy with the result. It is washable and I hardly need to change my small filter any more.

I am OK with the stock plastic filter myself for now.
Please note in the above sellers ad "*Micro Rating not known*".
It looks like you so get a lot for you $25 on that unit.

Do you know if this seller also supplies a kit to hook up the Water Alarm?

10 microns is the same as the Mercedes Spin-on fuel filter.

Not to shoot this down, but I heard that this could be messy changing this type of cartridge filter and filling & bleeding it is pain.

There is a site that makes an adapter to make a typical spin on type.

And in case your wondering here are some other brand replacement filters for it.

No problem with shooting me down.

I posted the Ebay ad as this filter is similar to the Stanadyne one that some said they use. It cost the same but the shipping is free.

At my last Mechanics job I was a Gen Set Mechanic and I worked on the Gen Sets that power the Refer Units on Refrigerated Containers.
The primary filter they use is the same style with the same routine to take them apart and change the filter and clean them.
The Filter Housings were mounted high enough above the Fuel Tank so that Fuel did not gush out if you had to take one apart.
But oddly enough although I often drained crap out of the bottom of the bowl I seldom changed the Filter Element itself (most likely it was a 20 micron element) due to it being plugged in the 3 years I worked there.

You do not want to mount this filter below the level of the Fuel Tank unless you put in a valve! As you said it could get messy and it takes too long to change compared to a spin-on; while fuel is comming out.

As I have said, I am very happy with the filter. I use a WVO/Diesel mix and WVO acts a solvent and it sucks up all crap from the 25 years old fuel tank. It clogs the plastic filter in no time. I have no more problem since I install the filter. The micron rating is not known but it is pretty small though. It is enough to block all the crap from the tank. It has a simple electric circut to hook up to a buzzer and is provided. Why buy disposal one and fill up the landfill?

The 2-micron Baldwin BF7591-D is good enough for me. Total cost was under $50 using the factory filter base.
