1980 Mercedes 300SD is this a good deal?
Is $2,300 a good deal for a 1980 300SD turbo with 184k miles? The car is in fairly good condition, a/c works, has two dings on the very back, no rust.

If you don't snatch that beauty up, someone on this site will now that you brought it to their attention.

That's a pretty good sized wallop on the back of the car, but the rest of it looks beautiful. If you can authenticate the miles, and drives as good as it looks, the price is right. Not a steal, but a good deal.

Looks like a fair price. Check VERY carefully for rust.

Check all the rubber components
My 82 is a former Florida car like this one and all my window and door seals are totally shot as were all the rubber boots on the steering, axle and suspension components. That southern sun really plays havoc over the years.

I'll check it out, thanks for the heads up. I plan on fixing the ding in the back, anyone have suggestions about getting the paint to match after being fixed?

I agree the #1 thing is to check the servo.
Its odd because that interior wood looks nearly new! The only way that would be is if it were garaged every day of its life. $2300 isn't bad.....perhaps offer $2k? |

If the answer is yes, then do you know how to paint a car, or do bodywork? If the answer is no, then don't do it. You will never get it to match. It will look better the way it is. Any decent bodyshop (by that I mean an independent who is not sucking the teet of the insurance companies - read dealerships) can match the paint very closely. In order for it not to stand out as repainted, the trunk lid should be blended, and the entire quarter should be blended. BUT, somebody who cares could maybe get away with just cutting in that corner and making it look reasonable. Unless the paint is broken, i would leave it until I had enough money to fix it properly |
