116 Body Trim
Hello all,
I just looked at the pictures from the NJ diesel meet. That get together sure looks like a fun time! I don't think my wife and kids would be as excited about it as me, but I know Stella (our 116)would have enjoyed every second of it. This post is not a diesel issue, however, there are quite a few of the older cars represented on this board that may have had some trim to be reattached. The horizontal piece below the drivers window has one end that has been loose ever since I bought the car. The end towards the latch side of the door is loose. The clip still seems to be there and I have replaced one of the plastic pieces that are between the clip and the body paint. I don't understand how the clip works. I don"t want to remove the trim strip, because I am afraid I may not be able to reinstall it as well as it still is. I can push the strip down into the correct position, but there is no positive "click" sound and the strip will just pop out by just closing the door or driving down the road. The position it usually ends up in is real close to where it should be to the untrained eye, but I am afraid something will catch the end and bend it beyond repair. Comments would be appreciated, Doug
