question 0n oil pan

hello forum, i have a 93 300d 2.5 turbo, and the tow truck guy just punched a hole in my oil pan wile towing it, so now i am looking for a oil pan , any suggestions on a good place to look, i am in southern ohio so most junk yards don't have any w124 2.5s so is this going to be a dealer only item ?

try clicking the "buy parts" link at the top of the forum. odds are you will have to call roy or phil, aside from that, dealer, or junk yard... you could try ebay too.
Um, what's the towing company doing for you? they should have insurance coverage for damage, and they should pay for the pan and installation and fresh oil... I'd push for it!@%^&**$&%

ask the forum

Lots of the folks on the forum have parts cars.
Post a WTB for the part. You will likely get a response.

Where are you? You could have it repaired for quite a bit less. Shipping might be a problem because of its size. I am in NC if you want to weld it. Do you have pictures of the damage??

Try to find a used one first but if that fails ---

Good luck
Robert

Just hope it's not a two piece like some of them. That job is a real PITA
Next time someone tows your car, watch where they put the hooks, and don't let them pull until they are positioned correctly. Towing isn't brain surgery, but it takes common sense.
Hopefully he didn't hook onto a control arm either.
Very few cars I would use a hook big enough to damage anything, mini j's or tee's are all that is required for 99% of the cars on the road.

yea if it was a towing company i would be mad as hell, but it was a buddy who was doing me a favor and it was half my fault for not telling him where the tow hook was hiding... but he is fixing it. i was just running down parts for him. in his defense he was trying it to get it out of a tight mall parking lot with the steering locked ( because the tumbler is broke) so i wasn't too angry Murphy's law rules my life....

i think were going to have a local shop tig weld it. worst case i have another 300d with a bad trans i could take the pan off of but i hate to do that...

In his defense, "No good deed goes unpunished"
And getting cars outta parking spaces isn't the textbook definition of "good time"
