83SD trunk leaks

What causes for wet trunk has anybody verified?
My trunk seal seems fine, and I've made sure that it stays clean.
Is it just dry rotted underneath where I can't see it? I haven't wanted to pull it out for fear of tearing it.
Could be getting some in through tailights and emblem holes, but seems like the wet is too far forward for those causes.
Rear window?

Probably your rear window seal, or tail lights. If it is only wet in the wells on the side its probably the tail lights, otherwise its your rear window. Most likely not the badges

X2 on the taillights. My pass. side tail leaks because it is missing part of the gasket, I just used a little clear RTV sealant. Usually easy fix. but it could also be truck seals, Are you sure the trunk is adjusted right so the trunk makes a good sealing contact with the actual weatherstrip? Check and report back please

Thanks!

Where is your leak? The tail light seals will leak into the side wells, the window seal can leak along the whole width of the trunk.

Seems to be along the entire width, but floor gets wet right up to the rear body panel. Tomorrow I am going to strip the trunk, lay out some paper and get out the hose. I am suspecting more than one culprit.
Are the fogged areas of my rear window possibly where the seal is leaking?
Fogged, as in whitish, not fog like you could wipe off.
Trunk lid seems to sit nice and tight on the seal.

Just found your thread "water in w126 trunk lid" and it jarred my memory.
I, too, get water in the trunk lid. Hence my reasoning that the emblems were at fault(memory is the first thing to go). What did you ever find with yours.
Is it obvious that I seldom use the trunk?

there are MANY sources for a water leak in the trunk of an SD...
on mine, it started as the fuel filler neck seal, then tracked further to find the sunroof seal was causing water to flow down the bad motor shaft tube... next I found the sunroof seal to be a problem... VERY difficult to remedy this one, if really bad, you will find serious rust under that seal... you may need body welding and serious painting repair. a good time to get proficient with por-15!!!!

Check for leak in from the outside at lower right and left hand corners just before the turn inward. This is on the outer side of outer seal.
