Lightbulb Simple Solution (Back Door Wont Open)

Found a easy solution for getting a door open when the locking mechanism fails. I had trouble with the drivers side rear door not opening on my 85 300sd. after some research and going over numerous pictures I noticed that the door plunger is accessable through the area behind the inside door lever. After removing the plastic insert and prying back the metal buety ring you can remove the screw holding the arm rest. With some patience and care you can then disconnect the window switch and remove the buety ring. Then, simply disconnect the horizontal linkage on the lock plunger pivot arm and pull, with a pair of small needle nose pliers, towards the front of the car releasing the lock pin at the rear of the door. and open the door with the release lever. then you can remove the door panel and repair the lock mechanisim without destroying anything on the car.
