I broke something again
77 300D - Broke main instrument cluster plug (15-pin, round connector) when removing cluster to fix ignition switch. Rest of job went great!
What to do? The plug looks like I burst a pinata - all the pins with wires attached fell out since I somehow managed to break the rear part of the plug that holds all these in place. Repairing plug and getting all pins in right alignment looks like PIA, if not near impossible. Other thoughts - get another, intact plug with several inches of wires attached and splice in (could use more cable length anyway). Or new plug and somehow adapt in? It looks like the wires, pins, and plug were originally manufactured with special tools. What do you think? I do have the wire color identifier/pin number info, so all is not lost.

Ouch!
Your plan sounds possible, but you will want to find one from the same year and model if possible so that the wires (hopefully) will correspond.
