87 300SDL Turbo Question

Hi,
I was wondering how i could test my turbo. I just want to know if it still is working. I never hear any turbo noise, is there a way to test the turbo?

if it goes when you nail the throttle, its working. if it takes all day to reach 60, its not. You dont really hear it inside the car much.

There is a little pressure line coming off the head to the drivers side firewall, if you want to feel what its like to have no turbo unplug the line. Mine comes off every now and then, its really obvious.

Like a2t said, if you can hit 60 mph in 10-12 seconds, your turbo is fine.

There is only one plastic line attached to the intake manifold (not head) above the injection pump. Make sure the line and the fitting in the manifold are clear. The line goes to a vacuum switch then continues to the injection pump. Make sure you can blow air freely through the switch and through the line to the injection pump. You can tap a boost gauge just before the injection pump to ensure the injection pump sees the boost signal for fuel enrichment.
