Cleaned ALDA banjo bolt and...

Now I am experiencing LESS black smoke and Less MPG. No other changes or adjustments have been made. That was 2 weeks ago. I have owned my 83 300TD for over a year now and love it. And without the help of this forum and the people who contribute to it I wouldn't know 1/10th the info as I do on old merc's, so mucho thanks to all. I haven't had anything to contribute really until now...
I always fill the tank and reset the odometer when I fuel up. The last 2 tanks after cleaning the banjo bolt on the back of the intake manifold, which was 95%clogged, (just a pinprick of light visible through it) I have averaged just over 23mpg. Up until then, I got at least 25, sometimes 27mpg. I have noticed maybe a small increase in power. Also noticed is a lack of black smoke when I floor it. Is this because the ALDA is allowing more fuel into the engine and that fuel is burning more efficiently? The first tank after cleaning the bolt I probably did floor it more than normal, just to see the results, so I wasn't surprised to see the mpg drop, but it hasn't returned to what I have been used to. Any ideas from the Peachpits experts? Thanks for the time...

Black smoke is unburned fuel (less efficient)
Cleaning the bolt essentially "unlocks" extra fuel (only when the turbo is boosting).
More fuel used=less mileage.

Engine was "Starving for Fuel" in Boost Mode.

However, Valve Adjustment,Timing Chain "Stretch" (It wears),IP timing ALL
effect Fuel Economy.
