heater box fan questions

hi i recently rapped my ameture on my heaterbox fan and anyway the brushes on the fan gets realy hot so hot that one of em just melted off there are no shorts or brigding in the ameture either and one more thing what is intender by the tempreture switches in that little box? by the way this happened before I rapped the ameture is it normal for them to get hot I tested the motor on a battry charger

I re wrapped the coil in the armature is there any diy guides or any links anyone can post
