190 Transmission conundrums

I've got an 86 190D 2.5 with a transmission that's, how you say, completely dead.

I've been looking around and heard a rumor that a transmission from a 16V would work without much modification. Is this true? What modification do I need to do?

I've also been throwing around the idea of converting it to a manual transmission. What extra parts do I need?

Obviously, a clutch pedal and shifter linkage. But what else?

Thanks for answering the stupid newb questions.

Clutch-flywheel & pilot bearing - assuming they will mate up to your existing crankshaft. Some engines have different cranks depending on automatic or manual. Don't know about the 190.
You may need a different driveshaft. Check the length of the one on whatever donor supplies the manual tranny & other parts.

Happy Motoring, Mark
