A very good day... Breaking News: The Defiant is sold

After my pity party I was having this weekend I really needed this Tuesday.

The overcast damp clouds hanging over Wichita over the weekend finally parted yesterday afternoon, about when I drove the Defiant out to meet a potential buyer. Since listing the car on craigslist Saturday morning, I've had many phone calls, even more emails (most of which asking if the car was still for sale, only to never hear from them again), and 4 test drives. I got a phone call late last night at around 11:00p.m. from a potential buyer, who was clearly intoxicated. He kept asking what other Mercedes I had, and how much I wanted for them. I had to repeat a couple of times that I wasn't a car dealer, and was only selling the one car at the moment. He also told me in a slightly more graphic fashion, that the Mercedes crest doesn't sybolize a three pointed star, rather a woman opening her legs.

Around noon today, shortly after my indy made a free house call to remove the oil filter housing lid on the, the seller I drove out to meet yesterday came by to adopt the Defiant. Paul is a diesel enthusiast, who currently owns a Cummins diesel truck and a 300SD he purchased non-running for $700.00. I gave him all the forum information, so hopefully he will join in and give updates on the car.

Picture with the new owner:

What a journey with that car:

The day I came upon The Defiant in the salvage yard. Icky wire wheels:

The day I brought it home in a snowstorm, after holding out for nearly a month after first laying eyes on it.

Lots of cleaning, new seats, and mechanical knick nacs created this:

Bye Defiant.

Our last song together:

The two happiest days of owning most cars--- the day you buy it and the day you sell it.

I'm more interested in fixing the one's I have. Trigger's paint job, Ol' Turbo's looming front end rebuild, and the SL could use a new top, but I'm in no hurry for that.

I really want a Grand Wagoneer, but I may go W126, only actually shell out real $$$ for a nice one.

Who knows, with my craigslist impulse deals anyway.

Sounds like deja vu all over again.

Skip the old Jeep stuff and get a new Commander. They are all the way cool! Besides, the old Wagoneers were pieces of junk, from everything I've read. Caveat emptor.........

No, I seriously doubt the drunk guy would remember our conversation. I can't believe I talked to him for over 15 minutes, but I was doing my best not to laugh at times.

Nice going chump. You sold it to Adam Savage.

You'll be cringing when it's on mythbusters. Maybe they'll send you a card with the air date.
