bad glow plugs ?

My glow plug lights started coming on after starting to drive about two weeks ago and now this morning it stopped coming on before start up

Does this mean a bad or good thing ?

The light used to come on before start up in the morning then it would come on while driving for a couple of minutes or so but starting this morning it did not come on before start up but it comes on while driving for a minute or two after a couple of minutes driving

its a 92 300D 2.5turbo let me know if you need more info to help me out

I concur.

You have a bad GP and the module is relaying diagnostic info via the use of the Instrument Panel lite.

Go to the module in on Left Front wheelwell. Pull the large connector which sends leads to the GPs and use your Ohmmeter to see which pin is open relative to Ground. That is your bad GP and the number is on the connector.

Ignition off. Mainly Because you wouldn't want to accidentally touch a hot GP when you replace it.

I wrote up my glow plug change dilemma.. It's really not that bad. 92 300D same engine OM602. Do you have an ohm meter. It's easy to find the bad plug with one.

If you don`t have an OHM Meter, Harbor freight has them for $3.00 on sale. I picked one Wed.

I can`t help myself, everytime they are on sale I pick up a couple. I must have 6 now . make good stocking stuffers.

Cool 3rd plug

hopefully its not the 3rd one which is soooo hard to get access to. in my 350sdl i just replaced all 6 yesterday even though only 3 or 4 were bad. i heard it was best to replace them all at the same time but that might have been bull. good luck mine were 20 a piece

Replace glow plugs and check relay

Here is the link from diesel giant to test and replace the glow plugs. http://www.dieselgiant.com/glowplugrepair.htm

I recommend you change all of them ( glow plugs), I did it on my 92 300D, 602 engine and it was fairly easy, make sure you test the relay also , mine had the main circuit broken, so I had to break it open and do some soldering inside.

If you follow the steps you'll be up in no time.

Can I buy a repair manual some where ? or if there is a link online to a break down of the engine etc ?

I cant seem to see or find the middle 2 glow plugs and cant imagine changing them without taking intake manifold apart

It can be done. you come from the firewall (back to the front) and use a swivel connector. There are links for manuals you might have to do a search.
