Shadetree anyone?

Hey
Sorry if this isn't the correct forum.

I need some minor maintenance done on my 1987 300TD. W124
Live in Alexandria VA / DC Metro.

I haven't driven it much in the last several years. I've had it a long time and can't let her go.

My long time mechanic hired a new tech, I don't really like him. He broke more than he fixed.
I have a Haynes manual for reference if you need it.
Need work as follows:

Transmission service, drain including bell housing and new filter etc. Adjust vac to transmission.
Fuel filters...main and secondary...R&R
Right front corner R&R...dump truck...rock...enough said.
Secondary water pump is weeping a bit...R&R this if it is something you can do.
RR passenger window doesn't want to stay up, falls an inch or so...no clue why.
AC system check...R134 conversion 7 years ago...seems to work OK but not great.

A few other odds and ends if you want to fiddle with them. Cool if you don't.
Adjust the sun roof...all new cables and tubes done 7 years ago. Needs lube and the springs for the deflector. PITA I know.
Shock tower bushing driver side...R&R... Once again OK if you want..cool if you don't.
RF dash speaker...R&R... Once again OK if you want..cool if you don't.

I'm not cheep I just don't want to pay shop rates for a car that I never drive.

Get in touch with me and lets talk about it.

Not the right forum to find a mechanic for hire. A lot of DIY types lurk here and one in your area might be interested in some extra income. You are listing a lot and I would think even non shop rates might exceed the fair market value of the car.

If you don't drive it and you can't DIY, why not sell it to one of the forum members here that would appreciate and take care of it?

If it is a rust free, one owner, with documented maintenance and repair records it may be just what a forum member would want.

You might also try your local Craig's list but that would be more risky than this forum to find a person that knows how vs. a wannabe.

I think he came to the correct place. Nothing on the list is too difficult. I'd do it, but I'm in way over my head, with 2 engine swaps, a new head on a focus, getting another 300D's new engine finished, etc..

Thanks for your input.
I have owned the car for 10 years and have over 17,000 dollars in receipts for work that I have done to this car,all of my paperwork is digitized if you would like to see it, and over 36,000 in receipts for work that has been done on the car since it was new(2 previous owners). I even have the window sticker, the car sold for a little over 52,000 new. yes it is clean and rust free. It is worth more to me than anyone else. Someone offered me 10,600 a year and a half ago. I didn't have time to spend on a long distance sale.

This would seem the perfect place to ask that question. It doesn't guarantee somebody will be available, but you have a diesel Mercedes owner who just can't bring himself to get rid of his car, has an issue with his mechanic and wants to find help with/for his car.
Where else would you go???
For terminology sake that better be a wagon......

Thanks, it is a wagon. I posted here because I saw it as a chance for someone to make some money doing what they like to do. I have had 3 responses. I think most people understand the spirit in which I posted this.

I don't have a place to do the work or the time. In Alexandria you cannot work on a vehicle on the street within the city limits.

Thanks for you response.

I humbly stand corrected, this was the right place to come. I made the first reply which bumped the question from page 2 to page 1. Glad I did, now you're getting some good responses.

Good luck!

I'm getting tired of working on mine and thinking about selling and buying a Lexus RX350. At my age, golf is becoming a more practical hobby (need more exercise). If I do sell, it will be an emotional sale.
