Wife said her car (1990 300d) was making a noise when she turned the steering wheel. Took a look at it and the serpentine belt is loose and the spring is gone. I don't have a manual for this car so im not sure what else is missing, if anything. If just the spring broke, could anything else related to the tension on the serpentine belt have broken off?

mine did same thing once, just the spring was gone.

amazing they still run without tension on belt, barely noticed aside from the pop sound from spring hitting bottom of hood and some minor belt squeel on accel. 5 min to repl.
