Cheap speedo gears
I found an inexpensive place for speedometer gears. I bought a set today. Will post how good they are.

His illustration shows three gears, not one. Nowhere does he suggest that each gear is $19.95.
You probably don;t need all three. I hope the one you get is the one you need. In my opinion, his saying that replacing the speedo or using used parts won't work is self serving and speculation on his part. I can't see how you could be prosecuted for replacing a nonfunctional speedometer. We are talking about ancient vehicles here, anyway. All the new ones use digital speedos.

Those gears are around $20 shipped from Austrailia? Buying them locally would seem like a more logical choice. The 3 gear set from odometergears.com is $69 shipped.
In the ebay listing, it does say in bold letters "SPECIAL!!! For a limited time, all gears are $19.95 each incl. postage". Maybe you can specify that you need all three before he ships. If that is what you want?

What are you doing with speedometer gears on a W126/300SD? It has an electronic speedo, no gears.

Ah ok, I thought you meant gears at the transmission. I forgot about the ones in the speedo itself.

Ryan,
Did you contact them again? That is still not that bad of a deal for the gears. Even if you have to get all 3, you will probably save $10 over the other places. Maybe see if they will work you a discount deal for all 3....  I would be more worried about the time it takes to get them and then the ability to return them easily if something got screwed up. AJ
