Center drag link ends
... after replacing the 78 240D's noisy UCA bushings and the wornout steering damper, I've noticed a squeaking coming from what I'm pretty sure is the center link. Looks easy enough to replace, but I have one question: On the EPC (and on my car), there is sort of a cylindrical boot on each end of the linkage ... the number for this is 000 463 04 96, and it doesn't turn up on Fastlane, Allparts or buyMBparts. Haven't asked the dealer. Is it something that isn't necessary? The assembly pictured on Fastlane looks as though it has normal boots like the tie rods, with self-locking nuts.

Does the 83 240d show the same thing? AFAIK nothing was changed down there across all of the W123s.

It shows the same for all 123.123 ... maybe it was something that was discontinued? I'll ask at the dealer tomorrow ... they usually know at the parts desk.
