Workaround for loss of vacuum - Shut off

So, the 84 300D has been failing to shut off and I've been too busy (or lazy) to get under the hood to find out where the leak is. Too many other priorities..

So, next thing I know the hood pop breaks and now it's use a coat hanger to open the hood to shut the car off.

then one day I turn the key off, get out of the car to shut it off and before I got to do that, I push down the lock on the drivers read door....and low and behold, the car tries to shut off. So I get back in the car, lock the drivers door and turn the key off and bam....the car shuts off.

Freaked the wife out when the next time we were together I locked the door then shut off and the car shut off. She couldn't believe it.

So, I now have a work around for the lack of shutoff. Oh and the coat hanger has been replaced by a piece of wire that stores in the grill work. pull the interior handle, go out, pull the wire from the grill, pull on it and hood opens.

Ahhh....jury riggin the car.....aint it great ! ! ! !

If your car won't shut off, you should try this out.

Disconnect the yellow line under the hood near the firewall and plug it. Should solve your problem. It disconnects all the vacuum lock devices from the vacuum system.

Cool Kerry, appreciate the follow up!! Once I get back home (I'm out of town for work for a week) I'll give that a shot.
