123,617.52 Printed Manuals Sold $303 Ebay

Many have wondered what a Complete Set (maybe this is a complete set) of Printed 123, 617.52 manuals would sell for. The below sold on Ebay for $303.62 for the lot.
Description:
Complete set of genuine Mercedes-Benz factory service manuals. Includes Chassis and Body Series 123 volume 1, Chassis and Body Series 123 volume 2, Heating Air Conditioning and Climate Control Model 123, Engine Service Manual Turbo Diesel 617.95, Electrical Trouble Shooting Manual 123 '82 on. Plus, Illustrated Parts Catalog. This is ALL five service books that were made for the 300D, plus the illustrated parts book, (shows exploded views of all parts). I bought these from Mercedes-Benz for my car and never used them. They are still in the original box as shipped from factory. These books will cover the 1982 to 1985 Mercedes 300D Turbo Diesel. These books are now out of print and rare. If you have a classic 300D this is a must have set.

My highest guess was they would sell for around $250.

Given what they cost from the printer at the time... he lost money on that investment... LOL
If you do not count the information he used in keeping his car going...
I wish I had that parts catalog ...

Never underestimate the power of an auction.

To some people $300+ is not a lot of money.
I bid I $170 on them and that was my limit and did not look until hours after the auction was over.

I already have the 2 Chassie books and the Climatic Control Book. I guess If I ever end up with a set it will be 1 book at a time.
Since I have the FSM CD I could never justify a need to have them for $300+.

I got that same set of books, minus the parts book off e-bay a few years ago for around $200,00. there was one more also, the maint manual covering like years 81 to 91.
Books are so much easier to find something than a CD. and worth the price.

I am thinking that Mercedes is missing out on another source of Income.

They could move the Printing job to China or India like they did with some of the parts.

I think they already did this with the CD's.
Print manuals are a thing of the past with MBNA.

Call me old fashioned but I absolutely prefer the printed manuals. Not a fan of the CD although I have one for the 300SD. You just cannot have as much fun paging through the book using a computer screen. I agree that MB could make some money reprinting the manuals; I would buy a set.

In fact I think I still have the two to three inch thick manual for my 70 6.3; maybe I should contemplate selling it.

I also do not like reading on the computer but the CD set gives you a lot for $27.

Especially when compared to a $16 Chilton or Haynes Manual. The $16 is better use as part of the cost of the real Mercedes CD set.
