I've searched the forum and thought others might want some help with the W116. The relays for the aux fan and A/C are behind the side panel where the parking brake pedal is on the driver's side.
While diving under the dash, I found a great spot to check the vacuum for the passenger doors, trunk, and fuel door: under the pass. speaker or behind the glove box; for rear doors it's on the pillars where the seat belt retracts.
First pic (1a) is the vacuum check behind glove box/under speaker; next is behind the trim for the seat belts (remove two screws and slide down) you can check the rear doors without removing the door panels!! Third: remove panel behind safety brake: 3 relays. Now maybe I can find out if the relay is the cause of the battery drain and the aux fan; fan works great...it just drains the battery overnight.
