Now the SLS hose blows!

Hi All

My 1985 300TDT came with a rear end sag like so many others. So I recently got around to changing the air balls, resealing the SLS valve, flushing out the SLS fluid and installing a new fluid filter.

Just when I thought I had everything ship-shape, my SLS high pressure hose blew dumping all my new SLS fluid in my driveway.

Now I'm looking for a new hose - I hope from somewhere beside the stealership. I looked at Peach Parts but didn't see anything

Anyone have a source?

Joseph

Now that we have that straight, all three of the wagons that I have owned have blown out the SLS high pressure hose after getting the system back up and running.
I took them to a hydraulic hose shop and they cut the end fittings off and braised them onto new hydraulic hose. Cost was around $63 bucks.......
After you get the hose repaired, walk back to the other end and memorize the model # on the left side of that hatch. Pay close attention to the number of "T"s........

I am guessing that Kerry's post shows you how to unscrew the ends of the hph and put them on new hydraulic line. If not search around you just need standard 3/8 hydraulic line.

Hi All

In reading over earlier posts on this subject started by Kerry, I found several folks who used lower pressure hose which promptly failed.

ALLDATA says the pump puts out pressure of 200 bar or 2900 psi and the relief valve operates at pressures of between 130 bar (1958psi) & 185 bar (2683psi)

Howdy Pard,

I sure nuf wanted to have a 300TD. But the great State of Texas said - boy - you got yourself a 300TDT there - says so right on that blue piece of paper!

Who was I too argue with Judge Roy Bean? .......

I also reside in the Great State of Texas, but I think Germany had the "correct" say on this issue, and their "say" is proudly displayed on the Trunk Badge of Truth, or the Rear Hatch of Truth.....

I used standard hydraulic hose line. It is rubber over a steel braid. The original hose was nylon braided so I think I upgraded, though its likely mb just knows how to braid nylon better than most

Hi

Thanks to Kerry's information I'm back on the road at a bargain.

Five feet of Gates 3/8 hose at $4.18/ft. did the trick. Everything worked just as described.

Thanks all!

Joseph
