Help... my old 1977 300D has developed a strange problem..car not started for about 3 weeks .started ok but later noticed fuel under car ,the fuel is coming from the return line on #1 injector ,took off line ,and fuel is being pumped from the filter INTO the return line .blew air int the main return line to the tank ,it is clear ,but obviously cannot handle the increased flow
any suggestions appreciated.........cheers hartley

replace the line with a NEW replacement. Do not skimp and buy the cheap lines.

Fuel coming from that location is not an issue. Just seal it up with good return lines.

A larger output of return Fuel comes from the Fuel Injection Pump. As with anything under pressure it will take the easiest way out; meaning if you disconnect a Return Line it is easier for the Fuel to go out of the return line than be pushed back to the Tank = normal.

On mine the Injector return fuel and the IP return fuel are T ed to the same fitting that the Cigar Hose and Fuel Going back to the tank. The Plastic Line next to the #2 is the Fuel Return from the Fuel Injection Pump.

The T on top of the housing also has a bleed hole to the pressurized side of the system.
