Getting fed up with power steering leak

My power steering leak has just been bugging me so bad. It's getting to the piont to where I have to fix it first over everything because it's leaking so bad. I'd like to focus a good 300-400$ on new injectors or getting my brakes fixed or something....important. I could care less about power steering and I could find so much more important things to fix.

I'm wondering if it's possible to just to remove it. I don't want to deal with it right now and I don't need power steering. But I don't know if "just removing it" is a possiblity.. is it?

i just did the front shaft seal and the cover gasket for about $10 and an hour of time.

your car may be a lil bit different- or leak in a different place, but it cant be that hard to fix. if its the box, maybe someone here has one?? lines are easy, pump is easy if you can find the seals. I imagine the box seals are fairly easy, too.

I wish it was that easy, I need the gearbox gaskets and or a rebuild. I'm told it's a big job. My main question is possible to just remove it the power steering?

If it is your steering box and not your pump that is l;eakling , removing the pump will not help you other than give you very hard steering

I reckon you could reseal the box for less than $50 in pars. its 2 seals, is it not? the input and the output. a good bearing shop or REAL parts house should be able to help you. but you'd need to get the old ones out.
or am I missing something??

$300 for a professionally rebuilt box from my mechanic and his parts supplier... with a 3 year warranty.

not that big of a job... remove power steering lines(catch fluid before)better use two people, one to remove bolts and other to catch it and then install and the other puts the bolts in since it is heavy

oh and lining up the spines properly and getting it right

Is a 220D a 114/115 body? I saw one today at our PNP, was a gasser. they show up every once in a while. why not pull a box off one.

are the 123 boxes the same? there are a lot of them out there also think the 126 is the same as 123.

A 220D is a W115 chassis car. I beleieve that the steering box in those is different from what is in a W123 or W126. Seems like many here have indicated that the W115 is actually a better handling vehicle than the later series.

does it continue to leak after you park (ie.. no pressure)? You could just remove the belt.

Or, empty it as well.

I cannot attest to the safety of doing so.
