Advice on tools, please

I went to a junkyard in Wisconsin where the guy had a couple of 3/4" drive Milwaukee cordless impact wrenches, and man, they were a life saver in the middle of the field where I unearthed some old W187 parts.

Does anybody have a Milwaukee cordless impact wrench? I know they are pricey and I'm not swimming in cash, but I'm selling all my vacation time as I am unemployed in one job on Friday of this week, so now's the time to buy. I have fortunately lined up another job that starts in 2 weeks.

The Milwaukee website is slow and lists 4 million options, which makes it useless.

So folks, whaddaya think? I'm interested in CORDLESS impact wrenches only. I have a Sawzall and a good cordless driver.and a good electric model.

I would try Froogle, you might be able to pick it up for a better price, or used. I'm sure they're on eBay as well if you're willing to do your homework. Milwaulkee products are never cheap!

Thanks for sharing but will someone answer my question?

Or does no one here use a cordless impact out in the boonies working on things?

I have found an enclave of old MBs, Packards and Citroens and must gear up to go there in July.

My friend is taking his stuff, including his solar-powered charger for his Thuraya phone.

We will dissect, collect, connect and zoom home.

I have no experience with a particular impact driver but use cordless screwdrivers every day in my work. Best quality......Milwaukee, with DeWalt and a few others forcing them to work hard to stay there. For quality/price Hitachi is the latest to join the battle at the top.

One point that I would recommend is go with the latest lithium-ion drivers. They may cost a bit more but the torque, weight & battery life far exceeds the former ni-cad variety. They are usually smaller in size, which is an added bonus.

Now you're talkin! SDF, Thanks for the info on LI batteries! This is what I need to know- we all do!

How about favorite model numbers of the Milwaukee impact wrenches? There are 34 different models.

IDEA: Why not stickies to review tools? That way, we don't buy the inferior ones and mess up our cars!

I'll be glad to contribute.
