You were right.!!!!.....Bilsteins are the hot setup
 

A while ago I asked for a poll on shocks. The concensus was Bilsteins.

You were right. Ease of install and a ride like heaven.

Thanks for the input. I'd have probably gone the cheap route and been disappointed.

Bilsteins are OEM for all Mercedes, I wouldn't put anything else on a Merc... On a more interesting note, you can go two roads with Bilsteins... You can buy them as "Bilsteins" in the box, off the shelf, or you can buy them as Genuine Mercedes Benz parts in the all too trusty blue and white box. Here, you are getting the "HD Bilstein," or so I was told. When I got the shocks re-done at 132000 miles on my 300D, I got them in the Genuine Merc form.

Not that other shocks are bad. Interestingly enough, in the sixties and early seventies, Porsche (another user of Bilstein as OEM) offered Konis as an option, albeit a high performance one. They were adjustable! However, with the sheer girth of a Benz, and the demanding ride, I would stick to the Bilsteins.
