Amazing photo emailed to me from original owners; conflicted now

I got in touch with them after being inspired by an OD thread. She said she would look for original photos and email them to me.

My car in September 1987 with original owners inside

Angeles Crest January 2009

I have an opportunity, and have agreed to sell Ol' Turbo for a very good price. I was resolved to do it until this email tonight.

Are those NJ plates on it? Is it still the original color?

Tyler, it's a sign you should keep it.

They probably know you're taking real good care of the car and wanted to show you their gratitude by sending you the photo.

Texas plates, same color. Its just sun vs. shade. That's a whole heap of $$$ for the car, though, and the W126 is soooo quiet and comfortable.

That guy looks like he's almost too tall to fit in the car!

I take it the original owners want to buy it back?

Its even got the original factory Pirelli tires on it! My spare in my 300SD is that same tread pattern! (original spare)

And just think, you were probably not even a year old when that photo was taken! (me either)

How time flies!

I can't get over the photo. 80's high fashion, wife, Elaine, with the Perm.

This is who is buying the car, a repeat customer I guess you could say since he bought Trigger. One of the nicest people you will ever meet.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J-UjppiRPuk

He's leading the organization rebuilding Greensburg, the town leveled by a F5 Tornado, to sustainable living. This car would be the centerpiece for his biodiesel effort, encouraging others to go diesel, and may create future buyers of my cars.

Here is his website and mission:

You'd have no diesels if you sell the 300D! You'd be left with a pretty thirsty fleet!....two 5 liter v8's and a 6.9 liter v8. Yikes!

Interesting.......money is money though, I'd probably miss my car too much to just sell it to someone like that....even if they made a real good offer.

Only a couple times have I ever been stalked by people to buy my car, one guy followed me home and wrote his number on a page he ripped from the owners manual of his current car... Another guy asked me in a store parking lot if I'd sell. Me: Never
He didn't look very happy....

The original owners are getting by without their beloved Ol' Turbo [although they didn't know the name at the time], and they're the ones who should have the real bond.
You too would get over the Ol' Turbo'd one.
It is an impressive pile of $$$$ for Ol' Turbo, fair to you and fair to the buyer.
You have a tough choice there.......

I tend to get emotionally attached to cars. The benz I have now is more sentimental to me then anything I own. My dad polished the aluminum and paint on the car for me, Worked on it every day until he went into the hospital and soon after passed away. Even though he felt like crap, He insisted to work on my car. I will NEVER sell my benz. Don't sell it dude!!

Sorry about that... Colin figured things out, finally took my advice and put on a new primer pump.
