Got another one

Picked up an 82 300SD this weekend. It was cheap so I figured a nice parts car it would make. Originally thought of stripping her down to nothing and selling off what is left but then had second thoughts about the loss of yet another one of these cars. The previous owner said he thought it had a bent rod and the oil cooler and turbo flex pipe (exhaust) leak. There is a few spots of rust on on the fenders and the interior is pretty well worn. 297K. Does everyone go through these feeling of remorse or is it just me?

Not from CT is it? Sounds oddly similar to the "other" car the PO tried to sell me when I got the one I own now...

No Remorse Brother. Make the one you take out on the road everyday the best it could possible be. Nothing makes a better statement about these cars that seeing them on the road in great shape. Sounds like the one you just bought wouldn't ever be more than a beater.

Given the cost of replacement parts, an inexpensive extra to keep for spares is always nice if you've got the storage space.
