1983 Turbo 300SD Cruise Control Malfunction

I guess I'm lucky in some ways that my cruise control works, but it does have a major annoying problem. When I lock on a speed the cruise sets, but then the car proceeds to speed up 1-2 mph and slow down 1-2 mph all in an attempt to maintain the set speed. I don't like being a bobble head doll while I'm driving. Has anyone experienced this? Do I need to begin removing the circuit boards and resoldering them or is there possibly a more simple answer. Thanks Rick

This seems to be a common problem. Mine did the same thing, and is not hooked up at the moment. I think soldering the boards is what has been tried and may have worked.

something I have to get arount to do , always something to do on these cars.

If you do a search, something should come up.

There are some after market Cruise control units that have been installed with good results, and using the stock CC stalk.

cruise control

I am having the same problem as Rick. I got a great laugh out of my wife when I read the 'bobble head' part, as we get the same jerking motion. Rather than start re-soldering and or buying used parts, I would rather install an after-market cruise control. So, Charmalu, you said that "There are some after market Cruise control units that have been installed with good results, and using the stock CC stalk." Can you or anyone recommend one?

Thanks

I`ll probably go this route when it gets moved up the list of things
to do. something always seems to get in front of it .

Charlie

I should have paid more attention to the post before me .
