1992 300D 2.5 Turbo
 

I had to recharge my 300D ac the other day and I noticed that only one of auxiliary fans was turning. I gave it a tap and it started to turn then stoped again, is there something that can be done with this fan? Can it be taken off and cleaned up and lubed?

What kind of refrigerant pressure did you have in your A/C system?

How high did you recharge it?

I blew a fuse the other day but before I knew that I checked the refrigerant pressure.

It was a hot day and I had been driving on the highway for several hours but my pressure read about 110psi.

The can of refrigerant says it should never be over 60 or so.

Once I replaced the fuse it worked fine again but I only saw one fan turning.

I have heard that a fan with bad bearings will draw more amps and blow the fuses.

You heard correct, "Bad Bearings increase drag and force the electric motor to
draw more (Excessive) Amps"
And as you'll read in Tom's DIY the Bearings are usually the Culprit.
(Especially,if they're the Non-Sealed type!)

Almost the same situations as the Blower Fan Motor.
(Except It has REALLY Cheap Bearings!)

I think mine was 55 or 60 psi.

I just found out that both my electric fans do actually work.

I even spun them by hand and they didn't seem to bind at all.

They spun pretty freely but I don't have anything to compare it to.

I am still occasionally getting hot air out of the A/C though.

I don't understand it.

The fuse I replaced didn't even look blown but there was evidence of a minor explosion in the fuse box where the fuse was so I replaced it and the A/C started cooling again.

For short spurts, the A/C will turn to heater-hot air and then go back to cooling.

Those "Short Bursts" of "Oven Like" air are your Mono Valve allowing HOT Coolant into the Heater Core.

Either Mono Valve Problems
Or CCU (Climate Control Unit).

Errrgh! Look at the 10 Amp Fuse(s) in the top of your OVP Relay
[Aluminum with a RED Plastic top] in the compartment behind the Battery.
