passenger door not locking fixed Thanks snookwhaler
The problem that I was having was that the door would not lock with the driver's door key. I thought that I was in for a vacuum problem. I was advised by Snookwhaler that the problem was probably the pod. I was afraid to take the door panels off. I was assured that the job was an easy one. I did the removal of the door trim as directed by Snookwhaler. I purchased the trim removal tool and it was easy and went quickly. The only trouble I had was with a phillips screw it did not want to come out too easily. The panels came off quickly and the water proofing peeled right off.
The inside of the door was like new. No dirt or any other debris. I was really shocked. I was going to buy a new pod before I took the door apart but thought that it would be better to see if the pod was the cause of the problem.
I was glad that I didn’t buy the new pod because the one in the door was different than the one advertised for this car. The pod was in excellent shape and was working fine. It has only one rubber with one rod. This rod then goes up to an attachment that has sort of a slip joint hole in it. It seems that there must have been a locking piece that was on it to keep the rod at a point to enable it to lock and unlock the door. I searched the door bottom but there wasn’t any debris or the missing part down there.
I wired the rod and slip joint together and it works great now. The assembly of the door went well. Thanks again Snookwhaler for your valuable assistance.
If anyone knows what is missing I would appreciate the info. I am attaching a few pictures showing the parts that I am talking about.
