W210 PS Pump

I have a bad Power steering pump. Is it true that the 96E300D PS pump is different from the E320. There are used pumps on ebay but were pulled from E320 Gas models. Does anyone know if this will work.

W210 PS Pump

I have tried changing the oil in the pump, but the steering is still very hard, especially when not moving. I am guessing the only thing that it could be is the pump. Would there be anything else, that could cause this. Also sometimes the pump will start to whistle at random times, but does not happen very often, and increases with rpm. I will try to replace the pump, if anybody has suggestions or an answer to the pump issue please let me know.

When we got our '96 E300D it also steered hard, especially at parking lot speeds. This had been disclosed by the seller, who had gotten an estimate on pump replacement (~$400). I discovered that the fluid had never been changed in 248,000 miles! After flushing the system, it improved, but still acts up occasionally so I suppose someday I'll have to replace the pump.

Did you completely flush your system or just the fluid in the pump?

You can check EPC for the difference between diesel and gasser pumps.

I completely flushed the system. Does not help. It acts up sometimes worse than others. But the pump at the dealer is 612 bucks. Thats a lot i would rather keep working out my arms for that money. I am finding pumps for 120 on ebay but the dealer says they are a different part number.
