Hints needed for Coolant Leak

Hi guys and gals!

I did a dumb thing driving down to LA, i didn't turn my engine off at rest stops. Why? well, because I had been told that shutting off a hot engine and then starting it is harmful.

It overheated and all the coolant leaked (fell ) out. so,

1. The intense pressure caused a leak in the coolant system right?

2. Where the first place to look? any tips?

My mechanic already scolded me so please go easy.
