Cleaning the sunroof rails

To properly clean the sunroof rails prior to re-greasing with gleitpaste, is it necessary to disassemble anything, or should I just clean the exposed metal rails when the roof is all the way open?

Thanks,

Charlie

The factory manual wants you to completely disassemble the roof but most people just remove the top chrome covers and grease the rails. Be sure to use the proper MB grease, which is waterproof and won't attract dust. You can buy small quantities from FastLane.
