Metal Cups on Air Cleaner Buffers:

I don't think I have ever seen these on a car, but I ordered a set recently when I picked up a new set of buffers. My question is, which way do the steel cups point????

Up, towards to hood or down, towards the ground??? My guess is up as they have a small drain hole in them.

Comments???...Robert

They are heat shields to prevent the exhaust heat from deteriorating the rubber mounts prematurely.

Are you talking about the heat shields for the air cleaner mounts? They protect the rubber mounts from engine heat from below so sit like a bowl with the rubber mounts in them.
