Stripped ALDA adjusting screw???

Was under my hood today on my 85' 126 and i noticed something funny out of the corner of my eye... the Adjusting screw on the alda was moving??? It appears to be stripped out. I have never adjusted this screw as i don't have a pyrometer yet but what is this going to cause?

new ALDA? i don't know, does that exist? i got a used and unmolested one from a fellow forum member. there are a lot of people in the car parts section here who are parting out cars, maybe they've got one? post a WTB thread in there and see.

sorry for the bad luck! happened to me when i was messing with mine and didn't really know what i was doing.

From what others told me, leaving it off and not having the proper gauges to tell you when to lighten your foot can cause some considerable heat in the exhaust system during acceleration. Once you cruise, it's fine.

To be honest, I've never installed any gauges on my 1983 300SD. It runs exactly the same way as it did WITH the ALDA...or at least there's no massive difference as when the ALDA was on to when I took it off...People say throttle linkage...but that's a different story =P

It sucks what happened and I'm sorry to hear that, in my case however, I tampered with the ALDA.

my 85 SD already did a 13 sec 0-60 and it made a huge differance... the throttle response is greatly improved and there is very little smoke. of course i am running B-100
