ALDA screw

So I want to adjust my ALDA screw to get a little more boost in my vehicle.

Easy enough right? Well the plastic cap has sadly long ago rusted and I am unable to turn the little screw

I'm worried if I apply too much pressure on the screwdriver that I'll crack the bolt and really be screwed. Would a little WD40 fix it up or just accept the fact that I'll never be able to get it to move?

That would be the first time I heard of plastic rusting.
There is a metal cup however, trim it off to gain access to the nut that you'll need to loosen to adjust the screw.

proceed with caution and read up. i got excited about the prospect of a little more power and a "spy hunter" style smoke-screen with pedal to the floor but i broke my screw, lost my daily driver for 2 days, and had to find a used ALDA to replace mine.....

ToomanyMBZ,

I'm actually referring to the screw you see on top of the ALDA once you remove the plastic.

I think i'm going to let it be. I can't go without my car for too long.

Squabble,

Yeah I'm going to leave it alone for now. I'll look into it later.

when i started getting into getting a little more bang for my buck, i started here: http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=251397

i'm working on getting the basics set up (guages, full tune up, linkage, etc.) first and in excellent order, before i start tweaking outside the box for more power.

I see, maybe some penetrant oil. Seems it has been adjusted in the past.
Good luck.

There are some people who have adjusted the alda by removing it then adding a spacer under it and putting it back on so they didn't mess with the screw.

See I wonder who messed with it. My stepfather kept incredibly detailed notes on the car. Like he did ANYTHING to the car. I can tell you what day he filled up and how much it cost at exactly that mile marker. So his maintence record is spotless.

The PO was an elderly couple living in Springfield IL and before that it was purchased by the Air Force and driven around for only 3K miles :/ No where does it mention an ALDA adjustment. It might even be noted differently in the notes.

Either way I blame the air force for my problem!
