Auxiliary fan
One more casuality to my wrecked car is the auxiliary fan (for the AC) is dead. My guess is that the supports bent and tried to start turning, then the motor burned out when it couldn't spin.
My question is has anybody tried to modify the front supports to fit a W126 fan in the grill of a W123? It would be much more effective at red lights and in traffic. I haven't seen one in a while, so I don't remember how big they are...but IIRC, they only have a larger diameter.

I have a 126 car. The angled rod with the horns is about 13" between mounting screws. Maybe that measurement can be of some help.

you must cut off part of the bottom of the grill, and also remove the screw that hold the condensor in place so the fan will sit farther back. I have a W126 fan if your interested.
