97 E300 Troubel Code Help

My wifes 97 E300 fuel mileage has dropped recently; I have checked for leaking lines and pumps and have none. I did download two trouble codes and have questions. first was a Baro pressure sensor code P0105 and the second was a throttle position sensor I forget the code on that one. Have any of you experienced these codes? if so would you shed some light on your findings to correct the problems. Also do any of you have an idea where the Baro pressure sensor is located? Thanks for the help in advance.

The sensor is located between the air filter box, and the intake manifold. As for the throttle position sensor, there are a number of sensors that can cause this code besides the "throttle position sensor" itself. There is a small black sensor connected to the intake manifold, along with two other sensors located on the side of the air intake filter box. Both of these sensors have the same part number. One controls the resonance flaps, and the other controls the EGR valve. They are all connected by small rubber vacuume lines, that can spring a leak and cause a code, so I would check those out first. The second thing I would do is disconnect all the electrical plugs to each sensor one at a time, and spray each one with electric contact cleaner, and re-attach. If it is the MAP sensor itself that is bad, then that will have to be replaced. I have attached a link showing what it looks like. Good luck with your vehicle.

Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP)

The Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor measures changes in the intake manifold pressure resulting from engine load and speed changes. The computer sends a 5-volt reference signal to the MAP sensor. As pressure changes in the intake manifold occur, the electrical resistance of the MAP sensor also changes. By monitoring the sensor output voltage, the computer can determine the manifold absolute pressure. The higher the MAP voltage output the lower the engine vacuum, which requires more fuel. The lower the MAP voltage output the higher the engine vacuum, which requires less fuel. Under certain conditions, the MAP sensor is also used to measure barometric pressure. This allows the computer to automatically adjust for different altitudes. The computer uses the MAP sensor to control fuel delivery and ignition timing.

Thanks for the response I will check the vacum lines and clean the connections. I had totally forgotten about the vacum lines I had that issue on my 96 E300. Again thanks!

Well I found a couple cracked vacum lines on the sensor next to the intake and one under it too. Replaced and cleaned the connectors drove the car and thought I had the issue repaired. My wife leaves for an out of town business trip and barely gets out of the neighborhood and the dam CEL comes on. I have not had the car to pull codes so I am not sure if this is the same codes. Should have the car back in town Thursday. I hope it is just a glow plug code.

Do you know the part number on these?

I think that these are the two sensors (same part number) attached to the air filter box. One controls the egr valve, and the other the resonance flaps.
