No apparent stripfuse on my glow plug relay?

1982 300cd

GP's were replaced one year ago. Suddenly, there's no light in the dash when turning the key to warm-up position. Car doesn't start. I tested the pins on the gp relay. Only pins one and six have resistance with ignition key turned on. There doesn't seem to be a stripfuse. Is this possible? Do I need to take apart the relay more than unplugging the pins to get to the stripfuse, or could it be somewhere else? Where would the stripfuse be? I tried jumping pins one and two and got no light in the dash.

Thanks for any help that can be offered.

GP Relay is the black plastic box on the L/F inner fender behind the headlight.

Pull up and remove the cover. the strip fuse will be held down with 2 screws. can`t miss it.

stripfuse in glow plug relay

Ok, stripfuse is fried in Glow plug relay. Should I try and replace it and see what happens, or should I be concerned about why it got fried?

What GP's did you use? The strip fuse on my car melted after a GP developed an internal short.

Check the GP wring harness to make sure none of the wires
is shorting out to ground.the strip fuse could be old and worn out.
also when checking Ohms on the GP, ignition should be off.

You should check your Glow Plugs from the connector to the Glow Plugs for worn insulation. You could also check with an Ohm Meter.
From what I have read over a couple years several Members have had the little nut come off the GP and a wire came loose and touched the block or a wire broke off at the Eye and touched the block.

Another area to check is somewhere below the Spin-On Filter (on a 123) there is a clamp that all of the wires go through. It is metal covered with rubber but over time the rubber crumbles.

If Those wires look good and Ohm out OK with the meter there is a good chance the short is inside of the Relay itself.
Some Members have taken apart the Relay to file the Relay contacts. So I assume you could take it appart and see if there is anything messed up or burned inside that might cause a short.
