odd thing happened with the SDL

I'm sitting in traffic and the light with the oil can and wavy line under it comes on.. I freak out since im stuck in trafffic and cant get out of it to a parking lot to investigate. I just put in two gallons of oil 2k miles ago and theres no way it burned that much off and it doesnt leak any anyways so I am perplexed. After two minutes it went off..

I pulled over and saw no visible leaks or anything. Anyone have an idea?

The float switch that is supposed to detect low oil level sometimes fails. If it continues to do this, replace it. You'll need the oil pan to be low for this job so do it some time when you're changing the oil. make sure you replace the o-ring too.

My 300E triggers that annoying light all the time. It will come on whenever making a left turn if the oil is anywhere near the middle or lower on the stick. I'm too cheap to replace the $56 sensor though. Maybe the bulb will burn out eventually...

Mine does that also Don, but usually when it's running up on service time. It was bothersome for some time but a quick look at oil pressure is usually assuring. I affectionately refer to it as my time to service again light.
