93 2.5 oil light question
What level of oil remaining will turn the low oil light on ? I checked the oil last week and it was mid mark. Driving to work this morning the light came on. The pressure was holding 3, I pulled over to check and the light went out. Idle pressure was just under 2. It took 1 1/2 quarts to get the level to mid mark again. I did find a leak around the IP, I can see the oil running down the left engine mount. When I change the oil/filter it takes 8 quarts, so does that light turn on with about 6 quarts left in the pan ?

My manual says the light will come on when the level is near the minimum mark on the dipstick. Sounds like the indicator is working like it should.

It can get sensitive once the level is lower....especially if you make a turn or enter a curve on the freeway that pulls oil to the opposite side of the pan from the sensor.
