123 126 alignment? Who does it?

I have had this problem in the past with my 126. (I would take it to Pierre but our schedules are not matching up) I took it to the local "Tire Kingdom" and they got this bewildered look on thier faces. Why is aligning the mercedes such an issue? I heard that the specs for alignment of our cars require a certain amount of lbs in each seat, a full tank of fuel, and some special jigs to get it done?? Are they kidding? I refuse to take this to the local Stealer(dealer)!

any other ideas on where I can get this done? my front tires must be toe'd out due to the feathering on the outer edges of the tires. Or at least that is my guess.

Any help or advice here would be great!!

I called a few of my local idependent shops and asked them who did most of their alignments... they all the said the same thing (unless they did it themselves). The place I went to uses no secret MB equipment and my alignment is fine.

If you are in the Macon, Ga area take it to Vineville Tire. Outside of the dealer this is the only place to have it done correctly.

Before I get flammed for this I know it is not the correct way but.
My front tires were wearing on the out side edge so I measured the distance between the front edge of the front tires and between the rear edge of the same tires and then adjusted so they were the same and it has been great ever since. I did get and alignment about three months before this and it was great for a while but then started pulling but every thing is good now.

X2
All the local independents sub out alignments to a shop that does nothing but alignments, exhaust, and brake work. The shop is locally owned and has a great reputation. Confirm with BBB if you have doubts.

Because the techs that work there are not the smartest. My room mate works at a Bell Tire and has all the tools and know how for an older 'Benz. He even gets one in for an alignment from time to time!

Refusing to take it to the dealer is like refusing to have it done properly. Just take it there! Our dealer charges about $130 for an alignment and they are 100% going to get it right!

where I go....

I asked a couple of independent shops that work on Mercedes and they all told me ONE guy who has his own shop. He does a lot of alignments and frontend work.

In my case, the dealer was cheaper than my Indy by about $30. Easy decision. They also washed my car and cleaned the brake dust off the wheels!

Arrow Dealership...!!!

I use the MB dealership exclusively, Astorq MB in Parkersburg, WV runs a "special" from time to time....$39.95 for a 2 wheel alignment and $79.95 for a 4 wheel alignment...after I renewed nearly every ball joint and bushing in my W123 (300D) front end, I realized why you need to take this front end design back to MB for proper alignment.
