85 300D headliner

ON a 300D I'm looking for a few photos of the headliner strip under the rearview mirror and visors. My car appears to have been redone by someone that didn't know what it looked like originally and I'm wanting to confirm my suspisions but I need a few photos to confirm it myself.

Appreciate any photos of that area from your 300D.

Looks good

Ok photos look great thanks. I edited one and put below for another question. The area where I marked up is it appear the material is stretched here or is it glued to the form of the headliner ?

In my car the material is stretched tight and does not follow the shape of the form underneath.

Hmmm

As is mine ! Interesting that some are and some are glued and some are not glued.

Because it was stretched I was wondering if someone had replaced it and did a poor job. Guess not.

Maybe the glue guy at the Mercedes Factory got let go when are 85's were on the line. who knows

My 83 (also blue) is the same way. When it was new, everything was glued and conformed to the base under the vinyl. As it aged, some of the glue released. The sun visors originally folded up into a conforming pocket. They now get stopped by the stretched vinyl. I've wondered if I could repair several times.

My best idea (not tried) is to remove the assembly, inject glue with a syringe into the pocket, put it all in a vacuum bag, and evacuate.

I've got doubts that it would work and I'm open to other suggestions.
