What to do with oil pressure guage?

Hello all, i ran a cross a 300D with a manual transmission in the junkyard and bought all the bits to swap a turbo motor into my ailing 240D. Flash forward two weeks and the motor is in the car and the accessories are being hooked up. The only problem i am facing is what to do with the oil pressure gauge. The engine has an electronic setup, and the car has the oil line to the dash. What are my options here?

What year 300D?
Arn't all W123 oil gages mechanical?

Can you use to tap from the old engine in place of the new sender?

Jim

Yes, the w123 should be mechanical. Maybe the engine bought was out of a w126 originally before put in the w123 that was found in the yard.

The engine is from a 126 300SD. I have the donor car sitting in my driveway.

The SD uses the electrical oil sending unit and guage. You will need to install the w123 oil tube and guage set up.

Yes, you should be able to unscrew the electronic sender and install the pressure tube. Then you could sell the sender to me for $5 because mine is broken

Take a look at drawing #3 at this site and items #95 that look like the plate that the Mechanical Oil Pressure Gauge attaches to and Item #98 that looks like the plate that the Electric Sending unit #266 goes to (even though they show the Electric sending unit near #95 I do not think it is supposed to go on #95).
You will tell for sure at the Junk Yard.
What you need to do is make sure that the Oil Filter Housing itself is the same for an SD as a 300D so that you can match the plats up.

Also you cannot just tap out a hole in the Electric Sending unit type plate as the fitting at the end of the Oil Pressure Gauge tubing has a cone shaped end some what like your Injector Hard Lines that seals in tapered bore. It does not seal on the threads.
