Clunking Rear End Help
Hi Guys.
Have an 85 300DT, 136k miles. Had my passenger side half shaft boot break about 7 weeks ago so I ordered two GKN half shafts but haven't put them on yet. Yesterday I hear a low speed clunking which is very prevalent in shifting from reverse to forward and at low speeds. Under the car reveals a leak on the driver side half shaft, between the rear end housing and half shaft. Also the inside steel housing on the halfshaft appears to have had something internally push out the steel in a couple of places. The clunking is getting worse by the minute of driving and plan on changing half shafts tomorrow on my friends lift. Should I be watching out for anything else or any other worries, or is this probably just half shaft issues. Thanks, Alan |

It took you all of 4 minutes, including typing etc.
You're slipping.
